GMCCheck Storefront Scan and Recovery Workflow (2026)

An overview of the GMCCheck storefront scan and Shopify recovery workflow.

What GMCCheck Does

GMCCheck starts with a free scan of a public storefront. The scan reviews publicly accessible pages and returns a risk score, issue preview, and potential blocker count. A free scan does not require an account.

If you choose the Store Fix Plan, the current one-time price is $29. The plan unlocks a fuller diagnosis, a prioritized action checklist, policy and content guidance, appeal-readiness guidance, and access to the Misrep Agent.

Storefront Scanning

The storefront scan can assess any public store URL. It is not limited to a particular ecommerce platform for scanning. The crawler reviews publicly available storefront content, including product, policy, navigation, and structured-data pages.

A scan is advisory. It identifies signals that may affect Google Merchant Center compliance; it does not guarantee approval or reinstatement.

Connected Recovery Workflow

The connected workflow combines the evidence you authorize from three places:

  • Your public storefront
  • Shopify
  • Google Merchant Center

Google Merchant Center access is used for connected diagnosis. GMCCheck reads the account, issue, product-status, feed-health, and reporting data needed for that diagnosis; it does not edit Merchant Center products, feeds, campaigns, or account settings.

Shopify Fixes Require Approval

Automated fixes are available only for Shopify stores connected through the Shopify Admin API. The agent can propose changes to product metadata and store pages, including policy pages. Every proposed change is shown for merchant review and is applied only after the merchant approves it.

The Shopify connection requests read_products, write_products, read_content, and write_content. These scopes allow the Service to inspect relevant products and content, then make only the merchant-approved product and content updates.

A Practical Way to Use GMCCheck

  1. Run the free scan for a risk score and issue preview.
  2. Review the result and decide whether to unlock the Store Fix Plan.
  3. Connect Shopify and Google Merchant Center when connected diagnosis is needed.
  4. Review the agent's proposed fixes.
  5. Approve only the changes you want applied, then verify your store before requesting another Google review.
