Connecting Wix to Google Merchant Center
Wix Stores integrates with Google Merchant Center through the Google Merchant Center app available in the Wix App Market. This native integration handles product syncing, feed generation, and basic compliance checks directly from your Wix dashboard.
To set it up, go to your Wix dashboard, navigate to the App Market, and search for "Google Merchant Center." Install the app, connect your Google account, and follow the setup wizard. The app will prompt you to verify your domain (Wix handles this automatically for Wix-hosted domains), link your Merchant Center account, and select your target country and language.
Once connected, Wix automatically generates and submits a product feed based on your Wix Stores catalog. Products sync regularly, and price and availability changes propagate to Merchant Center without manual intervention. The feed includes all standard attributes that Wix Stores supports: title, description, price, images, availability, weight, and SKU.
The key advantage of Wix's integration is simplicity — there is nothing to install on a server, no plugin conflicts to debug, and no cron jobs to configure. The limitation is that Wix gives you less control over feed attributes than self-hosted platforms.
Feed Setup and Optimization on Wix
Wix's feed generation is automatic but not fully customizable. Understanding what it does and does not handle helps you fill the gaps.
What Wix Generates Automatically
The Wix Google Merchant Center app creates a feed with these attributes pulled from your product data:
- id — Wix's internal product ID
- title — Your product name as entered in Wix Stores
- description — Your product description
- link — The product page URL on your Wix site
- image_link — Your main product image URL
- price — The current price (or sale price if a sale is active)
- availability — Based on your inventory tracking settings
- brand — If you have added it to the product's info section
- condition — Defaults to "new" unless specified
What You Must Configure Manually
GTIN (UPC/EAN/ISBN): Wix Stores has a field for product identifiers, but many merchants overlook it. Navigate to each product's Additional Info section and enter the GTIN. Without it, products from known manufacturers will trigger warnings and may have reduced visibility.
Google Product Category: Wix's integration includes a category mapping tool. Map your Wix product collections to Google's taxonomy. Use the most specific category available for each collection.
Product Variants: Wix handles variants (size, color, material) through its product options system. Each variant can have its own price and SKU. The feed submits variants as separate items, which is correct. Ensure each variant has the appropriate option values filled in — especially color and size for apparel.
Shipping Information: Configure shipping in Merchant Center to match your Wix shipping rules. Wix's shipping settings (under Settings > Shipping & Fulfillment) define your actual rates and delivery times. Your Merchant Center shipping configuration must approximate these accurately.

Third-Party Feed Tools for Wix
If the native integration does not meet your needs, several third-party options exist:
Mulwi Shopping Feeds (Wix App Market)
A feed management app that provides more attribute control than the native integration. Supports custom attribute mapping, feed rules, and multi-channel feed generation (Google, Facebook, Bing, Pinterest). Best for Wix stores that need feed customization beyond what the native app offers.
Manual Feed via Google Sheets
For small catalogs (under 100 products), you can create a Google Sheets feed manually. Create a spreadsheet with columns for each required attribute, enter your product data, and connect the sheet to Merchant Center as a feed source. This gives you complete control over every attribute but requires manual updates whenever products change.
Automated Feed via Third-Party Platforms
Services like DataFeedWatch and Channable can connect to Wix via API and generate optimized feeds with advanced rules. These are typically used by larger Wix stores or agencies managing multiple Wix sites.
Structured Data on Wix
Wix automatically generates Product schema markup (JSON-LD) on product pages created with Wix Stores. This schema includes the product name, description, image, price, availability, and SKU.
Verify your schema using Google's Rich Results Test by entering a product page URL. Check for:
- Correct price matching the displayed price
- Accurate availability status
- Brand name present (if you entered it in the product info)
- Image URL resolving correctly
Wix does not let you directly edit the JSON-LD output through the visual editor. If the schema is missing data, the fix is to populate the corresponding product fields in Wix Stores (brand, SKU, product identifiers). Wix's schema generation pulls from these fields automatically.
For advanced schema customization, you can use Wix Velo (Wix's development platform) to inject custom JSON-LD via code. This requires JavaScript knowledge and is only necessary if the default schema output is insufficient for your specific products.
Policy Pages on Wix
Google requires specific policy pages that are clearly accessible from your site navigation. Wix makes creating pages straightforward, but linking them correctly is where merchants make mistakes.
Creating Policy Pages
Create each policy page in your Wix Editor under Pages > Add Page:
- Return and Refund Policy — State your return window, eligible items, return process, and refund timeline. Be specific about who pays return shipping. Wix does not have a built-in returns management system, so your policy must explain your actual process.
- Shipping Policy — List all shipping methods, costs, estimated delivery times, and geographic restrictions. Match this to your Wix shipping rules exactly.
- Privacy Policy — Wix provides a privacy policy template under Settings > Legal that auto-updates with Wix's data practices. Customize it to include your specific data handling beyond what Wix covers.
- Terms and Conditions — Cover order acceptance, payment terms, liability limitations, and dispute resolution.
- Contact Page — Include at least two contact methods. Wix's built-in contact form counts as one. Add a visible email address, phone number, or physical address as a second method.
Linking Policy Pages in Navigation
This is where many Wix merchants fail Google's compliance review. Creating a policy page is not enough — it must be discoverable by Google's crawler through your site navigation.
In Wix, add policy page links to your footer. Go to the Wix Editor, click on your footer section, and add text links or a menu that includes all policy pages. Google's crawler follows links from your homepage through your navigation structure. A policy page that exists but is not linked from your site's header or footer may not be found during a compliance review.
Wix also has a dedicated Legal Pages section under Settings > Legal. Pages added here appear as links in your site's footer automatically on some themes. Verify that this works with your specific template by checking your live site's footer.

Common Wix-Specific GMC Issues
Limited Feed Customization
Wix's native feed integration provides less attribute control than WooCommerce or Shopify plugins. If you need custom labels, promotional attributes, or advanced shipping attributes in your feed, you may need a third-party feed tool or a manual supplemental feed.
Wix URL Structure
Wix generates product URLs automatically based on your product name. These URLs can be long and include Wix-specific path segments. While this does not directly affect GMC compliance, ensure your product URLs are stable. Renaming a product in Wix changes its URL, which can break the link in your feed and cause disapprovals until the feed updates.
Image Optimization Limitations
Wix's media manager compresses and serves images through its CDN. This is generally beneficial for page speed, but Wix's image processing can occasionally produce images that are below Google's minimum size requirements (100x100px, 250x250 for apparel). Upload high-resolution original images and verify the served image dimensions meet Google's standards.
Sale Price Handling
When you run a sale in Wix Stores, the feed updates to reflect the sale price. However, if you use Wix's scheduled sales feature, there can be a delay between the sale starting on your site and the feed updating in Merchant Center. During this gap, Google sees a price mismatch. Schedule feed updates to run shortly after any sale begins.
Mobile Responsiveness
Wix sites built with the classic editor sometimes have mobile rendering issues that affect compliance. Google evaluates your site on mobile. If your product pages, policy pages, or checkout flow render poorly on mobile devices, this can trigger compliance warnings. Use Wix's mobile editor to verify every page renders correctly and all links are tappable.
Domain and SSL
Wix provides free SSL on all sites, and custom domains connected to Wix get SSL automatically. This requirement is handled. However, if you recently connected a custom domain, allow 24-48 hours for SSL to propagate before submitting to Google Merchant Center. Google's crawler will flag sites without a valid SSL certificate.
